Your pool checklist for March

As spring approaches and the days (we hope!) start to warm up and lengthen, it’s time to start thinking about getting your pool ready for opening.

Here’s a handy check list for some things to consider with your pool in March:

1. Pool cover

If you used a pool cover during the winter months, it’s important to inspect it for any tears or damage. Clean the cover thoroughly before removing it to avoid debris falling into the pool.

2. Chemical levels

Test the pool water and adjust the pH, alkalinity, and chlorine levels as needed. It’s important to make sure the water is properly balanced before opening the pool for the season.

3. Pool equipment

Check the pool pump, filter and other equipment you use for any damage or wear and tear. After checking everything is okay, clean the equipment thoroughly.

4. Remove debris

Use a skimmer net to remove any leaves, twigs, or other debris from the surface of the water. Brush down the walls and floor of the pool to remove any excess buildup from the months the pool was closed.

5. Repair and upgrade

If you notice any damage or issues with your pool or equipment, address them now, before the swimming season begins. Now is also a great time to consider any upgrades or improvements you might want to make to enhance your swimming experience

6. Give Spruce Pools a ring!

If you’re not comfortable performing the necessary maintenance and repairs yourself, give us a ring to help get your pool ready for the season!

By taking these steps in March, you can help ensure that your swimming pool is clean, safe, and ready to use when the weather warms up enough to tempt people into the water.

Remember, once the pool is open, always follow basic pool safety rules and supervise children when they are in or around the pool. And keep maintaining and cleaning your pool throughout the year.
